      The Black Death was a deadly plauge that swept through Europe in the Middle Ages. It began in China, and spread along the silk road. Rats that came from China were infected with the bubonic plauge, and when the fleas bit the sick rats, they became infected. Then the fleas bit humans, which infected them. Within a few days, the human would die.
      Doctors had no effective way of curing or slowing down the Black Death. They tried herbal remedies and even bloodletting. Nothing worked.
